Sales of Galaxy S3 top 10 mn mark: Samsung`s mobile chief

The global sales of Samsung Electronics’s latest smartphone Galaxy S3 have surpassed the 10 million mark upon just 50 days of its launch.

“The Galaxy S3 is selling well and its sales appear to have exceeded the 10 million mark”, Samsung Electronics` mobile chief Shin Jong-kyun said, when questioned on the global sales of Galaxy S3 in a meeting with reporters.

The Galaxy S3 became the ‘10-million-seller’ just two months after its debut on May 29. In terms of daily sales, the sales volume reaches as many as 190,000 units.

Such brisk performance outstripped that of the Galaxy S2 which broke the record sales of 10 million units in five months to rise to the best-selling smartphone in the shortest period of time in Samsung’s history.

Considering Samsung’s rival Apple will launch its iPhone5 around September and October, the Galaxy S3’s sales are expected to surge into the third quarter (Q3).

By the end of this year, the Galaxy S3 will possibly win the title of the most-sold handsets and the 40-million-seller.

Sales target of the Galaxy S3 will further rise given that it debuted in the US, the world’s biggest smartphone market, just a month ago.
